The
University has risen substantially in the Times Higher Education
World University rankings 2011-12, and is now placed among the world’s
top 275 universities. Bangor has also been rated as the best University
in Wales for its teaching, and is amongst the top 15 UK Universities
for teaching excellence (Sunday Times University Guide for 2012).

Bangor is a long established university (founded in 1884) and dedicated
to academic excellence. Over half of the departments assessed to
date in the teaching quality assessments have received the top rating
of 'excellent'
• Bangor have over 10,000 students, 26 academic schools and
over 600 teaching staff
• The university has one of the fairest workload of any UK
university according to the now annual Times Higher Education Student
Experience Survey (January 2010).
• Bangor has cheaper accommodation and lower living costs
than in most university cities. According to The Independent's A-Z
of Universities and Higher Education Colleges, Bangor is "one
of the cheapest places in Britain". Bangor is the second cheapest
place for students to live, according to a table compiled by the
independent university guide, www.push.co.uk.

the North Wales crime rate is one of the lowest across the UK

Business
School
In
the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), Accounting and
Finance within the Business School has been rated as the best in
the UK for the quality of research conducted by its staff. Students
are attracted by our reputation for high quality and expertise,
particularly in the area of Banking and Financial Services in which
Bangor is a leading European centre which houses one of the largest
PhD schools of any business school in the UK. Staff research papers
and articles are published regularly in leading journals and their
books published to a worldwide audience.

Law
School
Bangor
Law School enjoys an impressive 92% student satisfaction rating
(National Student Survey). High
student satisfaction reflects the high level of support and Bangor’s
smaller class sizes compared to other larger UK Law schools. Bangor
has have a dedicated Law library managed by a professional law librarian.
All
degrees have Qualifying Law Degree (QLD) status denoting that Bangor
LLB graduates will have completed the academic stage of training
for the legal professions in England and Wales. As all Bangor LLB
degrees have QLD status, graduates may enter directly onto Legal
Practice Courses (LPC) to become solicitors or Bar Vocational Courses
(BVC) to become barristers

School of Psychology
The
School of Psychology’s undergraduate courses are ranked in
the top 5 in the UK for Student Satisfaction and have the highest
possible Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) ranking of “Excellent’.
The department has been described by an external examiner as ‘producing
some of the best psychology undergraduates in the UK’ and
prides itself on the pastoral care available to it's students.
The
School’s Psychology masters degrees cover a number of specialist
areas that reflect the mix of research expertise within the department.
The Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008 saw Bangor Psychology
rated 7th (out of 76) for research power
